Bellucci joga segundo Master Series em seqüência

Thomaz Bellucci está realmente com sorte. Após entrar direto na chave do Master Series de Toronto, após uma série de desistências o brasileiro garantiu vaga também no Master Series de Cincinatti, cuja chave principal começa a ser disputada no dia 28 de julho (próxima segunda-feira).

Thomaz não estava inscrito no qualifying do torneio que começaria a ser disputado neste sábado, e seus planos eram de voltar ao Brasil para se preparar para os Jogos Olímpicos. Contudo, com a desistência de vários jogadores, o brasileiro conseguiu a penúltima vaga na chave principal (baseado em seu antigo ranking, numero 68). Assim, Bellucci tem oportunidade de jogar mais uma partida difícil para ganhar experiência e entrar em ritmo de jogo nas olimpíadas.

Seu adversário é o cabeça-de-chave número 16 do torneio, o croata Ivo Karlovic. Karlovic possui 2,08m de altura e tem como principal característica o saque forte e a preferência por quadras rápidas. Será um adversário muito difícil para Bellucci, que terá de lidar com o saque do gigante. Com alguma sorte, contudo, e habilidade, Bellucci poderá conseguir equilibrar o jogo, pois Karlovic possui algumas deficiências na movimentação, por exemplo. Bellucci cai na primeira rodada do Masters.

Infelizmente não deu para o brasileiro Thomaz Bellucci na primeira rodada do Masters Series de Toronto. Bellucci foi derrotado por Fernando Verdasco pelas parciais de 1/6, 6/3 e 6/2.
Thomaz começou muito bem a partida, confirmando o serviço sacando muito bem e aproveitando da falta de ritmo do espanhol que sentia a transição do piso de saibro- onde foi campeão em Umag semana passada- para o piso rápido, além de ter começado sacando mal. Após duas dupla-faltas Bellucci quebrou e salvou dois break points para abrir 3-0 no primeiro set. Uma nova quebra em 1-4 permitiu ao brasilewiro fechar o primeiro set em grande estilo, 6/1.
Contudo, a partir do segundo set, o espanhol entrou em jogo , acertando mais o primeiro saque e forçando bolas tanto de direita e esquerda. Bellucci começou a sentir o peso da bola do espanhol e passou a errar mais batidas. Além disso, o saque passou a entrar menos e os seguidos erros na rede (incluindo um smash) permitiram ao espanhol retomar o rumo da partida. No final, com vitórias no segundoe terceiro set por 6/3 e 6/2, Verdasco venceu.
Após esta partida percebeu-se que tecnicamente Bellucci está batendo muito bem tanto o forehand e o backhand. Contudo, apresenta falhas na resistência (perde desempenho ao longo do jogo), na movimentação (lento), no swing muito longo da raquete (que permite muitos erros bobos) e no jogo de rede. Uma melhora técnica em certos fundamentos ainda é necessária para o brasileiro.
Contudo, provou-se nesta partida que o brasileiro mostra sinais mais uma vez de que possui tênis para ganhar sets e até partidas dos atuais melhores jogadores e um trabalho a médio e longo prazo deve ser feito para que nos próximos anos o brasileiro possa figurar entre os melhores.

An improvement in certains techical fundaments is still needed for the Brazilian.
However, in more one game the brazilian shows that he may have tennis to win sets and matches of the best current players therefore some work on medium and long term must be done so that in future years may the brazilian be among the best.
After the defeat Bellucci will choose between playing the Masters Series in Cincinnati (qualifying is needed) or resting for the Olympic Games. Stay tuned for updates.

E o improvável aconteceu! O tenista brasileiro Thomaz Belluci conseguiu uma vaga direta no Master Series de Toronto a ser disputado a partir de segunda-feira. Há mais de um mês atrás quando saiu a lista Bellucci era o número 68, dependendo de vinte desistências para poder entrar diretamente. Nessa sexta-feira Bellucci era o segundo alternate e terceiro cabeça-de-chave do qualifying, mas beneficiado pelas desistências de Nicolás Almagro (ESP) e Juan Martin del Potro (ARG), garantiu a última vaga direta na chave.

No sorteio da chave desta tarde deste sábado o seu adversário foi definido, é o espanhol Fernando Verdasco, número 15 do ranking e cabeça-de-chave número 13 do torneio. Verdasco está na final do torneio de Umag a ser disputada nesse domingo, portanto, poderá chegar cansado para a disputa do Master Series. De qualquer forma, Verdasco é um perigoso espanhol de 24 anos que está chegando no auge de sua carreira, com um título na carreira e mais de 3 milhões em prêmios, Verdasco furou o top 20 esse ano pela primeira vez, tendo chegado na final do torneio de Nottingham, semifinal em Bastad e quartas no Master series de Hamburg sendo eliminado nas oitavas em Roland Garros por Rafael Nadal.

Após um ótimo começo no primeiro saque em que Bellucci conseguiu encaixar 67% do primeiro serviço em quadra e fechar o set em 6/3 com duas quebras de saque, o nível do brasileiro caiu repentinamente no segundo set. Bellucci começou a sacar mal, errando muito o primeiro saque, mostrando sinais de que estava nervoso para fechar o set e a partida.

Após duas quebras de saque devolvidas por Bellucci, o colombiano quebrou mais uma vez no 4/4 para fechar o set em 6/4.
O terceiro set foi um desastre completo. Jogando muito mal, o brasileiro nada pôde fazer. Ainda pediu um atendimento médico quando já perdia por 0/3, mas claramente abatido não conseguiu reagir e acabou perdendo o set por 6/1 e o jogo por 2 setas a 1 em pouco mais de duas horas.

O adversário de Bellucci no ATP de Indianápolis será o Colombiano Alejandro Falla, em sorteio definido nesta sexta-feira. Falla é um jogador de 24 anos que em 2007 tornou-se o primeiro colombiano a terminar o ano entre os 100 melhores do ranking. Atualmente é o número 123 do mundo. A partida será difícil para Bellucci porque o colombiano é um jogador que costuma dificultar partidas para tenistas bem ranqueados, mas este ano ele tem feito uma campanha muito irregular, com apenas cinco vitórias nos torneios da ATP. Falla não enfrentou o Brasil no duelo pela Davis Cup em abril e seu melhor resultado na carreira foi semifinal de Lyon, 2007 no carpete. Além disso, Falla acabou de ser derrotado nas quartas de final do Challenger de Bogotá pelo brasileiro André Miele.

A recente campanha em Wimbledon (eliminado na segunda rodada) se não proporcionou nenhum avanço de posição garantiu 35 pontos suficientes para que Bellucci não perdesse nenhuma posição. O total de pontos do tenista brasileiro é de 597 pontos (maior pontuação da carreira).
Contudo, pela primeira vez esse ano podemos falar numa queda num futuro próximo próximo para o ranking do brasileiro. Isso se deve ao fato de que nas próximas duas semanas Bellucci tem 77 pontos a defender (quase 15% do total de seus pontos) referentes às finais dos challengers de Bogotá 2007 (42pontos) e Cuenca 2007 (35 pontos). Como Bellucci ainda termina sua folga essa semana, inevitavelmente perderia os 42 pontos de Bogotá, o que o faria cair 6 posições no ranking. The total score of Brazilian in the South African ATP Ranking is now 597 points (career high).
However, for the first time on this year we can talk about a probably fall in the ranking in the near future for the brazilian. This is due to the fact that in the next two weeks Bellucci has 77 points to defend (almost 15% of his total points) for the final reaching of the challengers of Bogota 2007 (42pontos) and Cuenca 2007 (35 points). As Bellucci ends his rest only this week, he will inevitably lose all 42 points of Bogota, which would make him fall 6 positions in the ranking.
