O brasileiro Thomaz Bellucci foi derrotado hoje na segunda rodada de Wimbledon pelo alemão Simon Stadler pelas parciais de 6/3 3/6 1/6 7/6 (5) e 6/8.
Em um jogo dramático que durou 3 horas e 42 minutos, Bellucci acabou vendendo caro a derrota. Após um começo muito bom, onde ganhou o primeiro set por 6-3 e ter aberto vantagem 2-0 no segundo set, Bellucci começou a perder a cabeça ao ser quebrado pela primeira vez. A partir daí, o principal problema do tenista brasileiro veio à tona: muito irregular, passou a cometer muitos erros não- forçados e muitas dupla-faltas além de sacar abaixo da linha considerada eficiente. Ao todo, foram 62 erros não-forçados e 15 dupla-faltas para apenas 9 aces e baixo aproveitamento de primeiro saque (55%). Sendo assim, um milagre quase aconteceu ao permitir que Bellucci, estando perdendo por já dois sets a um e também já atrás 0-3 no quarto set tendo ganho apenas dois games dos últimos quatorze disputados, conseguisse quebrar o saque de Stadler após muito tempo para levar o set ao tie-break e conseguir empatar a partida.

No quinto set Bellucci estava mais animado que o alemão para conseguir a vitória e teve 4 break-points sendo um match-point no 6-5 para a vitória, contudo não conseguiu converter. No 6-6, Bellucci teve 40-15, deixou Stadler empatar em 40-iguais e após 7 game points não-convertidos, permitiu ao alemão quebrar o saque no primeiro break point contra, levando à inevitável derrota no próximo game.

Contudo, esta partida que mais pareceu uma montanha russa cheia de altos e baixos prova que Bellucci possui jogo para avançar em torneios jogados em todas as superfícies, caso supere sua inconstância que o leva a cometer muitos erros e a deteriorar seu serviço. Bellucci ganhará 35 pontos no ranking de entradas e faturará £16,325 (maior prêmio de sua carreira). Desta forma, provavelmente subirá no máximo 3 posições no ranking.

Após esta dramática derrota, nos resta a esperança de que nosso brasileiro ainda pode melhorar mentalmente e também que ele teve ligeiro sucesso em sua primeira experiência na grama, provando que seu jogo pode adaptar-se a esta superfície e que pode vencer partidas principalmente se o saque funcionar e os erros forem controlados. Após vir de forte seqüencia nos challengers na Europa/ África e de dois Grand Slams, o brasileiro descansará nas próximas duas semanas para poder jogar o ATP de Indianápolis (ciimento-hard) na semana do dia 14-Julho. Thomaz Bellucci conseguiu uma vitória histórica em sua carreira, a primeira vitória em grand slams! E ela aconteceu na grama sagrada de Wimbledon, na quadra 4. Em uma dura batalha com o russo Kunitsyn o brasileiro mostrou muita garra ao ser quebrado duas vezes nos dois primeiros sets e depois ter conseguido reagir para vencer no tie-break ambos. Depois no terceiro set Bellucci não conseguiu encaixar da mesma forma o seu primeiro saque (fez 16 aces na partida) e acabou sendo derrotado uma quebra atrás. No quarto set parecia que o russo iria reagir, mas Bellucci novamente retomou o caminho da vitória, e com ótimos saques e contando com os erros não-forçados de seu adversário, fechou a partida em 7/6 (5) 7/6 (5) 3/6 e 6/2.

Bellucci é o primeiro brasileiro em 5 anos a passar pela primeira fase de Wimbledon.

É um vídeo interessante porque mostra a preparação dos brasileiros para o torneio de Wimbledon durante o ATP TOUR de Nottingham do qual nosso tenista brasileiro perdeu no qualifying para o inglês Cox. De qualquer forma, Bellucci aparece no vídeo a partir de 0:52 treinando na grama com o seu compatriota Marcos Daniel, atual número 72 do mundo.

Bellucci enfrenta na primeira rodada de Wimbledon o russo Igor Kunitsyn. Kunitsyn está no melhor momento da carreira mas já tem 26 anos de idade e é o número 78 do mundo. Esta subida no ranking se deve basicamente à semifinal do russo em Poertschach e às quartas em Delray Beach, ATPs que não possuem os melhores do mundo envolvidos.

Kunitsyn é um tenista que gosta de quadras rápidas e esse ano já derrotou Santoro, Clement, Fish e Haas mas perdeu para Schwank , Roitman e Minar, ou seja é um tenista relativamente imprevisível. Na grama, foi derrotado em tres sets por Jonas Bjorkman no torneio de Queens Apesar de ter derrotado também Bellucci por 6/4 6/2 no challenger de Bordeaux, é importante frisar que Bellucci estava cansado após 3 títulos seguidos de challenger. Então, nada mais justo que declarar essa partida como 50-50 ou seja, 50% de chance para Bellucci vencer, o que convenhamos, é muito bom, visto que ele é inexperiente na grama. Boa chave rapaz!
