Bellucci garante vaga no Masters de Toronto

E o improvável aconteceu! O tenista brasileiro Thomaz Belluci conseguiu uma vaga direta no Master Series de Toronto a ser disputado a partir de segunda-feira. Há mais de um mês atrás quando saiu a lista Bellucci era o número 68, dependendo de vinte desistências para poder entrar diretamente. Nessa sexta-feira Bellucci era o segundo alternate e terceiro cabeça-de-chave do qualifying, mas beneficiado pelas desistências de Nicolás Almagro (ESP) e Juan Martin del Potro (ARG), garantiu a última vaga direta na chave.

No sorteio da chave desta tarde deste sábado o seu adversário foi definido, é o espanhol Fernando Verdasco, número 15 do ranking e cabeça-de-chave número 13 do torneio. Verdasco está na final do torneio de Umag a ser disputada nesse domingo, portanto, poderá chegar cansado para a disputa do Master Series. De qualquer forma, Verdasco é um perigoso espanhol de 24 anos que está chegando no auge de sua carreira, com um título na carreira e mais de 3 milhões em prêmios, Verdasco furou o top 20 esse ano pela primeira vez, tendo chegado na final do torneio de Nottingham, semifinal em Bastad e quartas no Master series de Hamburg sendo eliminado nas oitavas em Roland Garros por Rafael Nadal.
Será a primeira vez que Thomaz Bellucci jogará um Master Series, e ainda num piso rápido. Uma vitória não é obrigatória, contudo a experiência neste torneio será única e deverá ser guardada por toda a vida por se tratar de um torneio só com bons jogadores. É o terceiro jogador top 15 que Bellucci enfrenta em menos de dois meses. Em Roland Garros perdeu de Rafael Nadal (ESP) e em Prostejov (challenger) ganhou de Thomas Berdych (CZE).

And the improbable happened! The Brazilian tennis player Thomaz Belluci got into the Master Series from Toronto to be started this monday. For more than a month ago when the list came out Bellucci was the number 68, depending of twenty dropouts to enter directly. On that friday he was the second alternate and third seeded of the qualifying, but he benefited of the drop of Nicolas Almagro (ESP) and Juan Martin del Potro (ARG), ensuring its way into the main draw.
In the draw that was taken this saturday afternoon his opponent was defined, is the Spanish Fernando Verdasco, ranked number 15 of ATP RANKING and seed number 13 of the tournament. Verdasco is in the final of the Umag tournament to be disputed in this Sunday, therefore, he can be tired to dispute the Masters Series. Anyway, Verdasco is a dangerous spanish player of 24 years who are coming at the height of his career with one ATP title and more than 3 million in prizes. Verdasco has also made his way into the top 20 this year for the first time, reaching this year the final of the tournament of Nottingham, semifinal in Bastad, and quaterfinal in Hamburg Masters series, being eliminated in the round of 16 in Roland Garros by Rafael Nadal.
